Cutting Funding To Planned Parenthood Will Cut Health Care Services To Women Is A Lie: They Don’t Really Care About Women’ Health Care!

Friday, April 15th, 2011

According to a article published yesterday demonstrates this. The article reports that, “Obama refused repeated requests from pro-life House Speaker John Boehner to agree to cut funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business. However, his administration didn’t raise a stink about the elimination of $600 million for Community Health Centers.” All the talk of women not being able to access health care services if funding to Planned Parenthood is cut is a big smoke screen to hide the real truth from Americans. And what is the real truth?

Many pro-life organizations have been shouting it from the roof tops. Politicians fighting to fund Planned Parenthood are not really interested in the health care of women. They are only interested in funding Planned Parenthood so they can continue to receive the millions of dollars Planned Parenthood funnels into their political campaigns. Money and power is all that drives them.

Planned Parenthood spent millions of dollars (probably our tax dollars) in a media blitz campaign to make sure that their funding from the government did not get cut, and it worked. The $350 million of tax-payer dollars they received last year will continue, at least for the time being. President Obama and Senator Harry Reid saw to that. “We can’t cut funding to Planned Parenthood or poor women will not be able to have access to much needed health care,” they said. And many Americans bought this lie. If that statement was true, why did they not blink an eye when they cut $600 million to Health Care Centers? They fought tooth and nail to not cut $350 million for supposedly poor women who can’t afford healthcare but then turn around and cut $600 million from health care centers all across the country that provide healthcare to poor women who can’t afford it. That doesn’t make any sense unless you look at who is the recipient of the funds.

An article in the Arthritis Foundation website states, “Community health centers will lose $600 million, depriving 5 million low-income Americans of access to basic health services and prompting them to use more costly emergency rooms, advocates said.” and that “Among the cuts is a $500-million reduction in funding for the federal health and nutrition program for women, infants and children, known as WIC.” I guess they figure that if they fund Planned Parenthood to kill babies before they’re born, they won’t have as much need for WIC since they won’t be alive to use it.

“The nonprofit American Principles Project (APP) on Wednesday criticized the Obama administration for agreeing to $600 million in cuts to community health centers that cater to underserved populations while fighting for Planned Parenthood.” Reads another article in The Hill.

“Coating its ideology in flowery language about women’s health and alleged Republican mean-spiritedness, liberal Democrats refused to cut one dime out of Planned Parenthood’s plump federal purse during the budget debate,” APP President Frank Cannon said in a statement. “All the while a sharp knife was being taken to community health centers that actually perform full-scale exams for the needy.

“These health centers offer prenatal care to women and their babies — 480,000 times in 2009 alone. Planned Parenthood? Their 850 clinics average less than one prenatal visit a month; in other words, it’s not their line of work.”

Abortion is an intrinsic evil. Everyone agrees that murder is wrong and abortion is murder. Those involved in the abortion industry and those supporting it are committing a grave sin. That is the nature of evil. Evil disguises itself in good intentions. “We want to help women who aren’t ready to be mothers.” Or, “she can’t afford another child. The children she has now will suffer.”

Evil blinds many from seeing the truth. It even makes good people so angry that they themselves turn to sin to fight the evil of abortion.

Evil hates goodness. Evil cannot prevail against goodness. And the source of all goodness is God. Evil cannot prevail against God.

We must stay close to God in order to prevail against the evils of abortion. We must fight abortion with prayer and love, God’s love. Love the abortionist. Love their staff. Love the mother’s having the abortions. Love the boyfriends and parents forcing some women to have abortions. Love our leaders. And equally as important, pray for all so that their hearts will be opened to the truth.

Only then will abortion end in America and in the world.

LANSDOWNE, VA – The arrest on Monday of Washington, D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray and other DC Council members over the issue of funding for Washington D.C. abortions has provoked a strong reaction among African American pro-life leaders. Rev. Dean Nelson, Vice President of Underserved Outreach for Care Net, called the Mayor’s protest a “betrayal of our community. We used to protest to protect the civil rights of our community, not for the right to destroy our unborn children.”

“Women in Washington, D.C. need life-affirming pregnancy options not more abortions,” said Rev. Nelson. Care Net, along with a coalition of African American pastors, is spearheading an effort to establish more urban pregnancy centers that will provide practical help, counseling, and resources to help women carry their pregnancies to term. Washington, D.C. is one of their top locations.

Local black pastors are joining Rev. Nelson in speaking out about Mayor Gray’s action. “Washington, D.C. has a 30 percent abortion rate, and abortion is the leading cause of death in the black community nationwide,” said Bishop Harry R. Jackson, Jr., pastor of Hope Christian Church. “We’re called to save lives and serve women. That is why we will open up a new pregnancy center here in D.C. this year.”

Pregnancy centers provide practical help and emotional support to empower those facing unplanned pregnancies to make an informed and life-affirming pregnancy decision. Care Net is a national organization supporting the work of 1,130 pregnancy center in North America.

Betrayal And Deception From Washington Leaders Is An Outrage

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

As director of African American Outreach for Priests for Life and part of the National Black Pro-Life Coalition, I am outraged, as everyone should be, at the latest news that Mayor Vincent Gray of DC, would unlawfully protest the budget bill compromise because it prohibits the use of DC public funds for abortions. He joins the betrayal of the National Black Caucus in supporting Senate Leader Harry Reid and President Obama in funding an industry whose main purpose is the killing of healthy babies.

No wonder a recent CNN/Opinion Research Poll found that “Sixty-five percent of those polled said they believe the federal government should continue to fund Planned Parenthood, while 34 percent support eliminating funding.” The people are being deceived by their leaders.

This trend is not a recent one. It dates back to the Negro Project and Margaret Sanger, Planned Parenthood’s founder, who wanted to sterilize the black community because as she said, “colored people are like human weeds and are to be exterminated.” As goes Margaret Sanger’s philosophy, so goes Planned Parenthood.

But there’s hope! As Fr. Frank wrote in his statement regarding the budget compromise, “steady and calm determination” will win the fight for life.

National Black Prolife Coalition Tells Congress, Congressional Black Caucus: Stop Trampling on the Truth – Defund Planned Parenthood!

Monday, April 11th, 2011

Leaders at National Black Prolife Coalition say: “ The Congressional Black Caucus betrayed our people yet again. By refusing to defund PPH during the budget battles, you have guaranteed that mass slaughter of the innocents will continue. Under the guise of women’s rights, PPH is killing our babies and disrespecting our women. PPH, America’s largest abortion provider is using our taxpayer money to target our Black communities. Their founder Margaret Sanger called our people human weeds and misfits; yet your refusal to defund our millions in tax dollars allows them to continue this targeting unabated.“

The Defund PPH issue is about ending the government’s use of our tax dollars to fund PPH’s foundational welfare mission – Black Genocide.

“Planned Parenthood’s billion dollar budget funds America’s largest abortion business; primarily located in urban areas with high minority populations. Their strategy is to make their mass abortion killings affordable to those they want to eliminate. New York City is just one example of this depopulation; for every 1,000 black babies born alive, 1,489 are aborted. PPH disguises their deadly agenda by promising “women’s services” and using our tax dollars to boost their funding.

Congressional Black Caucus, stop the genocide – from conception until natural death. Congressmen Boehner and Pence represent a bold and courageous stance of vigilance and commitment to life. America is now able to see the clearly drawn battle lines for life in all stages as a human rights issue. CBC, join the fight for life!

(see Fr. Frank Pavone’s article)

Senator Harry Reid and pro-abortion Democrats told America that facilitating corporate welfare for Planned Parenthood is more important than the more than 800,000 government workers and all Americans that would have been impacted had the government shut down.

Members of the CBC backed Mr. Reid up, sending constituent messages that the Republicans were trying to shut down government to Defund PPH, without telling the truth. It’s time to stop the slaughter of Black babies, and the wounding of their mothers in the false name of “women’s rights.” How many of our people have to die at the hand of greedy, racist abortionists before you end this madness?

Congressional Black Caucus, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once asked “how long? – not long.” We pray that you wake up and stop trampling on the truth. Let our people live!”

Fr. Pavone Calls For “Steady and Calm Determination” On Abortion Defunding

Monday, April 11th, 2011

Date: April 10, 2011

Contact: Andre Kim

Washington, DC – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, called upon pro-life activists to continue to insist, in creative ways, that the government stop funding the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood. He issued the following statement:

“The defunding of Planned Parenthood was not included in the budget deal reached this weekend by Congress. At the same time, this is not a ‘one chance only’ proposition. Cutting off funds from Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry overall is an imperative that must be brought up again and again, and pursued through various legislative proposals not only on the federal level but also in the states. Moreover, activists should continue to target corporate funding of Planned Parenthood.”

“The separate vote in the Senate this week on this issue should be carefully scored and used as an election issue next year. Moreover, this debate gives all of us the opportunity to consider again how important the abortion issue is. If government can take away your life, it can take away your money, too – and everything else besides. All our rights depend on the right to life. Government should neither be funding nor permitting in any way the planned, advertised killing of innocent children.”

Genocide – Gendercide – Sex Selection: What’s the Difference? Killing is Killing

Friday, April 8th, 2011

Seeking to enforce the one-child policy that involves forced abortions and sterilizations for violators, a Chinese family planning official has been accused of killing a man after attempting to uphold the law.

Reggie Littlejohn, the president of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers, a human rights group that monitors the policy and supports victims of it, informed about the incident. reports the events of the incident above in a recent article. Could this happen in America?

This happened in China because, as Littlejohn said, “This murder is a shocking and extreme example of how coercive family planning presses fear into the hearts of the Chinese people every day, Women who become pregnant without a birth permit — illegally pregnant — are terrified of discovery and forced abortion. Fathers feel helpless to protect their wives and children. Paid informants — friends, neighbors, co-workers — tear down trust in Chinese society. Family members are detained and tortured.”

And, like in China, people are getting hurt and killed over the abortion issue. The killing is being done on both sides of the issue. Abortion is evil and that’s how evil is; It draws others to commit evil acts. And, like in China, coercion is taking place in America. Coercion is being brought about, not by government, but by boyfriends, parents, grandparents, and societal pressures.

In America we may not have such laws targeting specific genders or ethnic groups but it’s happening just the same.

Many pro-life activists, especially Black pro-life activists, have been shouting from the rooftops that the Black Community is being targeted by abortion providers, Planned Parenthood in particular. There is so much evidence that points to this fact that it’s hard to believe they would try to deny it, yet they do. In an undercover sting operation, they have even been caught taking donations specifically targeting the abortion of a black baby.

In Arizona, a bill was passed to address this very issue. Congressman Trent Franks laid the groundwork for bans on race and sex selection abortions with his PRENDA Bill. Priests for Life and the National Black Prolife Coalition were right there to cheer him on. Now, PRENDA is bearing good fruit in Arizona. A baby in the womb is a person, regardless of ethnicity or whether the baby is a boy or a girl. The Arizona lawmakers are making history, and thank God they have the courage to do the right thing!

We need to pray that other states have the courage to follow suit. Let’s pray that Congress has the courage to defund the abortion industry, Planned Parenthood in particular as they are the largest abortion provider in the country and are the biggest recipient of tax dollars.

Every Black man, woman and child with a job is having taxes taken from their paycheck. A portion of that money is being given to Planned Parenthood whose founder said that “colored people are like human weeds and are to be exterminated.” They in turn use the money to make sure Black babies are aborted at a much higher disproportionate rate as all other ethnic groups.

That’s like the government, in the 1860’s, taking money from the slaves and giving it to the slave owners. Unimaginable yet it’s being done today.

Defund or Shutdown: Call Congress Now

Thursday, April 7th, 2011

As budget debates come to a critical point, Harry Reid and President Obama have vowed not to defund Planned Parenthood regardless of the consequences (shutting down our government).

We live in America, the greatest country on Earth. And as an American we have a responsibility to be active in our government.

Not only do we need to vote in the presidential elections every four years but we need to vote in all other elections that effect our local communities. Then, once we elect our representatives, we need to stay engaged so we know if they are doing what they said they were going to do when they were campaigning. We have to make sure that they’re not hijacking this country from what the people want.

One good example is the use of our tax dollars to fund an organization that is corrupt from the top down. All organizations have a right to exist within the boundaries of the law and under their own financial steam. Planned Parenthood is doing neither. They think they’re above the law and can break the law without ramifications or penalties and they think they have the right to our tax dollars. We need to help them see that neither is true.

Every Pro-Lifer MUST contact their congressional representative and tell them to stand strong to defund Planned Parenthood. We need to be persistent especially with the representatives who want to keep funding them. We need to let them know that if they fund Planned Parenthood, come their next election they will be looking for a different job.

In Missouri, Ellen writes, “I called Sen. Claire McCaskill’s Washington, DC office around 12:45pm yesterday (while I was at the prolife lobby day in Jefferson City, MO because I was listening to Abby Johnson speak and she said call your US Senator!!). I asked to speak with the person who handles abortion issues. The woman who answered the phone in McCaskill’s office told me she herself is a Legislative Aide and she could try to help me. I told the Aide that I am an African-American woman, resident of North St. Louis City, and a constituent and a voter, and that I was calling to let McCaskill know that I want her to vote to DE-fund Planned Parenthood. The Aide responded: “Well, Senator McCaskill supports Planned Parenthood and I will let her know your comments. Goodbye.”

That is — the Aide said “goodbye” while I was still talking. The Aide hung up on me. I wasn’t finished, but she hung up on me. As I was telling her that abortion is Black genocide (see or or or or But, she didn’t hear that because she hung up on me.

So, folks, no matter where you live, please call your U.S. Senator and demand that they vote to de-fund Planned Parenthood. Call them this week, in case they vote by this Friday. You can find your U.S. Senator’s info at

I would suggest that you even mention your ethnicity and city of residence, when you call. Dispel their myths.”

Ellen did not become discouraged and did not give up. Instead she sent out an email asking for a “call of action.”

When you contact your representative, if they hang up or are otherwise less than helpful, don’t give up. Call back or send an email to your friends and let them know how you were treated. Encourage them to call, too.

This is such an important issue that will define us as a nation. As Americans, we all need to get involved.

Amid Ethics Debate, Conjoined Twins Celebrate First Birthday

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Please read this article about a mother’s incredible love for her two babies. Against the advice of many, she sacrifices and perseveres daily for her children.

We thank God for the victory of Baby Joseph which grabbed media attentions as Priests for Life got involved and helped get him the help he needed.

Kameron and Kaydon Hayes, too, need our help. They too, like Baby Joseph, were not expected to live this long and could possibly die soon. There are those who say that their lives are not worth the money being spent on their medical treatment. A lot has been spent on their care for sure but who are we to put a price tag on life?

The black community is increasingly becoming more and more pro-life as issues like these come to light. As Planned Parenthood is exposed for being more concerned about their profits and the bottom line than they are about women’s health, the National Black Pro-Life Coalition is sharing the truth and making the Black Community aware of life issues that demand the attention of our fellow brothers and sisters.

Lisa Holewa Contributor

Twin brothers Kameron and Kaydon Hayes celebrated their first birthday this week. They both love the character Elmo on “Sesame Street.” They smile. Sometimes Kaydon babbles, trying to talk. Holding hands, they kick happily when they play and often poke each other in the face.

Born at 37 weeks weighing a combined total of 10 pounds, the boys — who weren’t expected to live — share more than a special bond; they share a liver and a malformed heart.

Their birth and subsequent medical care touched off debate among doctors and medical ethics experts who said the conjoined twins are destined to die.

But their mother, Brianna Manns, pushed onward, refusing to sign a “Do not resuscitate” order in the boys’ early months. She now is focused on their everyday growth.

“Kaydon, he’s very laid back. He’ll sleep all day if you let him. Kameron is very curious, social as well. He has a temper — knows what he likes and what he doesn’t like,” Manns told WGN-TV in Chicago, before the twins celebrated their first birthday Thursday.

“Even though they are conjoined, they are two separate babies to me,” Manns told the Chicago Tribune for a story published today. “They are very different in every type of way.”

Medical experts said the twins can’t be separated and aren’t candidates for a heart transplant because of their complicated anatomy.

Last summer, doctors at the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago — where the twins still are hospitalized — described the emotional toll of caring for them. They worry that their interventions went too far, expressing concern that the infants are the ones who would suffer.

“As health care providers, knowing what we know, we don’t want to see the babies die in an agonizing way,” neonatologist Dr. Helen Kusi told the Tribune at the time. “That’s where we are not on the same page with [the mother]. We haven’t given up, but we have to face reality.”

At the time, the twins were unable to breathe without a ventilator and were fed through tubes. The babies periodically went into distress and had to be resuscitated to prevent them from dying.

Today, doctors told the newspaper, Kameron breathes without assistance and Kaydon, who is doing most of the breathing for the two, is being weaned off the ventilator. They no longer experience the medical crises that require resuscitation.

But as they celebrated their birthday, Lisa Anderson-Shaw, director of the medical center’s clinical ethics consult service, said that just because the twins reached this milestone doesn’t make the aggressive treatment the right decision — or the wrong one.

“We had the option early on to not do heroic measures and to allow the mom to have time with the babies and then allow a natural death,” Anderson-Shaw told the Tribune. “Now that option is not the same. … It brings up more complicated choices down the road.”

As of Monday, she told the newspaper, the cost of the twins’ care, being billed to Medicaid, reached more than $4 million.

Dr. Susan Kecskes, a UIC pediatric intensivist, told the newspaper, “Right now we know that, at some point, they will outgrow their ability of their heart to support their body, and then they’ll get sick again and there won’t be anything, ultimately, that we’ll be able to do for them.”

But for now, Manns spends several hours every day with her boys. She travels up to two hours daily, taking public transportation to and from the hospital after work. She plays with them, washes their hair and joins them in their hospital bed, holding them close to her heart.

She organized their birthday party Thursday, turning it into a festive celebration with balloons and two cakes. The guests of honor wore blue crowns, each decorated with a gold number one. Relatives sang “Happy Birthday” as they gathered around the boys’ hospital bed.

Fighting back tears, Manns struggled to talk with a WGN News reporter about how she prepares for the day her sons no longer are here.

“At the end of the day, they know I loved them,” she said. “And I know they loved me.”
