NEW YORK, NY — Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement today regarding the lack of abortion clinic inspections in New York State.

“For us at Priests for Life, this news is not news at all. Since the early 1990s, we have been addressing the utter lack of regulation and oversight of abortion facilities nationwide, particularly through our collaboration in the research and publication of the book Lime 5, which uncovers the horrific conditions and practices that are the norm, not the exception, in the abortion industry.

“As more of the public becomes aware of the failures of the civil government here in New York to inspect abortion facilities, we will push for all appropriate measures to be taken to address and prevent abuses.”

Janet Morana, Executive Director of Priests for Life and co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, added:

“As we know from our work with the women of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, conditions in abortion facilities are far below any standards of normal medicine. These women, whose testimonies can be found at, have faced inhuman treatment and unforgettable abuse at these so-called clinics. If proponents of abortion, including those in public office in New York State, want this procedure to be considered part of normal medicine, then have them start enforcing normal medical standards.”
