Remembering Uncle Martin

By Dr. Alveda C. King

Friends, in remembering my uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. this season, please pause to consider that he was a man of God, who feared the Lord and cherished His commandments. Like every human being, he was not perfect, but he served a perfect God. My uncle was pro-life. He was pro-family. He loved everyone. If you would like to study his thoughts about life, please visit MLK & Planned Parenthood Part 1 and MLK & Planned Parenthood Part 2.

God bless you!

  3. First, thank you for sharing this today.

I have long been struck by how people want to compartmentalize Dr. King. They want to separate his social and racial justice activism from the follower and disciple of Jesus – essentially take those things that are most useful to their personal agenda and politics. The fact is, you can’t have and use those parts of Dr. King you find most useful at the expense of the rest. He was, first and foremost, a follower and disciple of Jesus Christ – a Christian.

    God bless you Alveda!
