NEW YORK, NY — The final National Voter Registration Sunday will take place this Sunday, Sept. 7.

Voter Registration Sundays are promoted by Priests for Life and other national pro-life and pro-family organizations to encourage pastors and church attendees to do what they are legally entitled to do – conduct non-partisan voter registration drives.

While this Sunday will be the final official day of these registration efforts this year, churches, prayer groups, and Bible studies can register voters on any day of their choosing.

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, commented on the importance of registering voters in time for the November elections.

“It’s mid-term election season, and the importance of an active and informed electorate is greater than it has ever been. The moral direction of America is largely in our hands. Our duty is not only to convert minds and hearts; it is to change laws and policies. And we do that by electing those who share our convictions about what those laws and policies should be.

“The first thing to do, practically, is to register to vote, and to call upon our pastors to have non-partisan voter registration drives in our parishes. Then we have to look closely at the races in our states, and find out who can, in our judgment, best advance the Culture of Life.”
