WASHINGTON, D.C. — Priests for Life will host a press conference at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the Bloomberg Room of the National Press Club to discuss the organization’s case against the HHS mandate, one of seven that will be reviewed by the U.S. Supreme Court in its current term.

Father Frank Pavone, National Director; Janet Morana, Executive Director, and Dr. Alveda King, Director of African-American Outreach, will speak about the case, Priests for Life vs. Dept. of HHS, in which they are named plaintiffs. David Yerushalmi of the America Freedom Law Center, the firm representing Priests for Life, will also attend to comment on the legal issues involved.

“This case has enormous ramifications not only for the organizations in the consolidated case, but also for every faith-based ministry that has been targeted by this unjust mandate,” Father Pavone said. “Many of our friends and colleagues have their own cases against this mandate, and these cases are still in the lower courts. Among these are EWTN. The Supreme Court’s eventual decision will either affirm or cast aside the freedom of religion guaranteed by the United States Constitution and by federal law. Every American has a stake in this case.”

The press conference will summarize in laymen’s terms the objections that the religious groups have against the mandate. The press conference will also present the actions that Priests for Life is mobilizing Churches to take, including a nationwide prayer campaign, and other steps.

The National Press Club is at 529 14th St. NW, Washington, D.C. For more information about the case, go to To arrange interviews or for questions about the press conference, call Leslie Palma at 347-286-7277 or email her at
