TITUSVILLE, FL - Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement today regarding Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear’s veto over the weekend of a life-saving bill.
“It’s ironic that during what might be the first time in history that the value of human life is being held in higher regard than commerce, Gov. Beshear chose to veto a life-saving bill,” Father Pavone said.
“The Born-Alive bill would have given children who survive abortion a fighting chance to live beyond their birthdays. The bill was not about restricting abortion; it was about saving those who survive it.
“To veto such a bill shows either a shocking level of callousness in Gov. Beshear or a lockstep loyalty to the Democrat party that should concern every voter in Kentucky. And it should concern voters across the nation, because Gov. Beshear is acting in lock step with the National Democrat Party and with the Democrat members of Congress, and other Democrat Governors, and indeed with Joe Biden and the other failed Democrat presidential candidates, who are not willing to either lift a finger or speak a word in favor of these tiny lives.
“None of them deserve to be in public office,” Father Pavone concluded.
Priests for Life (EndAbortion.US) is the world’s largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated exclusively to ending abortion. Pro-life efforts are working. The abortion rate in America is the lowest it has been since Roe v. Wade and in recent years states have passed more than 400 laws to protect the unborn. The number of freestanding abortion clinics in the U.S. has dropped from 2179 in 1991 down to 710 today, and President Trump has placed more than 200 (and counting) pro-life judges on the federal bench.
