CatholicTV has received a Bronze Telly Award for a show featuring Evangelist Alveda King, Director of Civil Rights for the Unborn for Priests for Life.
The Tuesday morning talk show The Gist featured an interview with Evangelist King that included her work for the international pro-life ministry for the last two decades and the legacy of her late uncle, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The show originally aired in October 2019 and its award came in the Spiritual/Religious category of the 40th annual awards program.
In Evangelist King’s deeply personal interview
, she spoke about how her grandfather interceded to save her life when her college-bound mother considered aborting her, and the loss of two of her own children to abortion.
“I was born to proclaim this truth,” she said.
Evangelist King also discussed two other branches of the Priests for Life ministry: Rachel’s Vineyard, the world’s largest ministry for healing after abortion, and the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, an international mobilization of women and men who regret their abortion experiences and speak publicly about that regret.
“I am so pleased and honored to have had a hand in bringing this award to CatholicTV,” Evangelist King said. “The network provides quality programming to Catholics and all people of faith.”
Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, said Evangelist King, who came to work for Priests for Life full time in 2003, has a particular rapport with audiences.
“In her gentle yet fearless way, Alveda King speaks up for the unborn all over the country and the world,” he said. “She delivers a message that people are eager and hungry to hear. I congratulate her and CatholicTV for this award.”
The Telly Awards honor excellence in local, regional, and cable TV commercials, programs, and video/film productions, as well as web commercials, videos, and films. CatholicTV is thrilled and grateful to have been awarded two Bronze Tellys.
Evangelist King appears regularly on Priests for Life’s own channel, EndAbortion.TV
Priests for Life (EndAbortion.US) is the world’s largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated exclusively to ending abortion. Pro-life efforts are working. The abortion rate in America is the lowest it has been since Roe v. Wade and in recent years states have passed more than 400 laws to protect the unborn. The number of freestanding abortion clinics in the U.S. has dropped from 2179 in 1991 down to 710 today, and President Trump has placed more than 200 (and counting) pro-life judges on the federal bench.
